Beauty Superfoods: What To Eat Now

The key to great skin lies way beyond expensive creams and facials. It’s also about what you eat. These nutrient-rich bites are not only packed with essential vitamins and minerals to keep hunger at bay but they will also leave you glowing.

It’s the number one superfood of 2015 – the world has gone crazy for Kale. Filled with powerful antioxidants including vitamin C and beta-carotene, it can be eaten raw or sautéed with a drizzle of olive oil. Get your daily dose and throw in a handful of leaves in your blender along with your favourite fruit. Great for breakfast or post-workout.

Sourced in the South American rainforests, açai berries are packed with high levels of anthocyanins, an antioxidant which helps fight cancer and heart disease. Fresh açai can be hard to come by, so check the frozen aisle in the Dubai supermarket or look for the berry in powder or juice formula.

This sea-grown vegetable is filled with omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent heart attacks and stokes. A member of the algae family, it also comes loaded with powerful minerals, including calcium and zinc. Add seaweed to your salad or buy a dry formula to snack on the go.

This lean pink fish is not only low in fat, but it’s full of protein and omega-3 fatty acids to increase your metabolism, reduce cholesterol and strengthen your cardiac muscles. Salmon fillets can be cooked in a variety of delicious ways, but keep it simple and cook with a pinch of salt, pepper and fresh lemon juice.

All items are available at Carrefour supermarket in Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif.
